Who we are

Avocado Locksmith is run by Jason Miller, owner and lead locksmith, with 4 years in the trade. The shop is a licensed and insured California locksmith company based at 380 S Melrose Dr in Vista, and the same person who answers the phone is usually the one who shows up at your door.

Why "Avocado"

Vista once called itself the Avocado Capital of the World, and the groves are still there on the slopes up Buena Creek. A locksmith gets one chance to be remembered at the worst possible moment: standing outside a locked door with a phone at 9 percent. "The avocado one" is easy to remember. It is also a name that belongs to this town and no other, which is the point.

Why the Business Park

The Vista Business Park is around 14 million square feet with more than 800 businesses, and over 300 of them arrived in 2025 alone. Every one of those move-ins needs a rekey, a keying schedule, and a back door with an exit device that actually latches. Most locksmiths treat that work as an occasional call. We built the shop around it: master key systems, panic hardware, access control, and service contracts that put the whole building on one schedule. The residential half of the week, rekeys and lockouts across town, pays for the coffee and keeps us honest about prices.

Licensed and insured

Avocado Locksmith is a licensed California locksmith company, and the work is insured. Every technician is background checked and carries company ID. Ask to see it at the door before we touch a lock; we would rather you did.

How we work

• Prices are posted. The number on the phone is the number on the invoice.
• Anything sizable gets a written quote first, parts and labor on separate lines.
• We check ID before opening a lockout, every time, because it is your door.
• We say no to work that is not ours: alarm monitoring, cameras, and car key programming go to people who do them all day.
• We rekey before we replace, unless the hardware is done, and we will show you why.
